Defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will have to beat Premier League side Mifa in Sunday’s Malaysia Cup Group C match to advance to the quarter-finals.

KUALA LUMPUR: Defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) will have to beat Premier League side Mifa in Sunday’s Malaysia Cup Group C match to advance to the quarter-finals.

Six teams have already advanced to the last eight with Group C still being an open affair. Mifa, JDT, Kedah and Kelantan are vying for the final two spots in Group C.

The pressure would be on JDT and Kelantan as they need wins to advance.

Mifa have been impressive in their debut outing in the country’s most prestigious football tournament and K. Devan’s side are expected to give JDT a tough time at the Shah Alam Stadium.

Former national coach Wan Jamak Wan Hassan believes JDT will start as favourites against Mifa.

"Anything can happen in football. Mifa defeated JDT at Larkin and I think it will not be impossible for the Premier League side to win again, this time in Shah Alam.

“I believe the match will be exciting and tense,” said Wan Jamak.
