KUALA LUMPUR: Puteri Umno today condemned the act of a father of three who was charged with raping and sodomising his own daughter.

Puteri chief Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the case, which was brought to the Special Court on Child Sexual Crimes in Putrajaya, should be used as a reminder to the public to always protect their children and prevent them from being exploited.

She said the establishment of the Special Court on Child Sexual Crimes in June was timely as this will enable victims to obtain justice and ensure punishment for those found guilty.

"I would like to emphasise that the vile act by the father had shocked all parties. A total of 626 counts involving sodomy and rape is an unforgivable sin," she said in a statement today.

"As a father and a leader of his family, he should have set a good example to the children. The victim should be given justice and support so that she does not suffer from prolonged trauma, and enable her to continue her life like any other child.

"He should be held accountable for his heinous act which has caused untold grief and tarnished the family's name. Such acts have also smeared the family institution."
