KUALA LUMPUR: The remand order against Malaysia Ahli Sunnah Waljamaah Organisation (Aswaja) president Zamihan Mat Zin has been extended for one more day, until Saturday.

This was confirmed by Federal police Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd.

The non-governmental organisation leader was arrested on Wednesday afternoon at Dang Wangi police headquarters at 3.50pm.

He is being detained under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948.

Zamihan came under fire for speaking out against a decree by the Sultan of Johor.

In a video uploaded on YouTube on Oct 8, Zamihan had allegedly said it was not right of the sultan, as the head of Islam in the state to issue such a decree.

Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar had last month ordered a Muslim-only laundrette in Muar to cease its discriminatory business practice.

While he did not name the sultan in his talk, he did give strong hints that he was referring to Sultan Ibrahim.
