KOTA KINABALU: Drug addicts were among eight men nabbed by Sabah police today over suspicion of being involved in motorcycle theft cases.
They were picked up separately in seven raids conducted at the Inanam area here between Aug 22 and Sept 11 following two reports lodged in Feb and the latest on Sept 4.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra said the suspects, aged between 18 and 36, were all Sabahans.
"Six of them were tested positive for drugs. We believe that with the arrest, we have solved eight cases around the district.
"During the raids, we confiscated three motorcycles, a motorcycle frame, three motorcycle engines, two handphones and a sling bag," he said, adding that the seizures were worth RM6,000.
On the two reports, Chandra said one of the motorcycle owners lost his bike when he parked it at the Tugu Pekan Inanam while another lost his machine near a shop in Kolombong.
"Owner must take extra caution by installing security lock to prevent their motorcycles from being stolen and not park their vehicles in secluded areas." he said.
